My name is Jim Anderson. I’m a retired college lecturer. This site is dedicated to my computer game-making hobby. I see the site as part showcase, and part development journal. But we’ll see how it turns out.
I’ve been writing games, and other software, on and off for about 35 years — in other words, from the dawn of the personal computer era. I’m a self-taught, not very professional programmer, but I have fun.
I’ve programmed in Basic (several versions), C#, JavaScript, Pascal, PHP, Python, and other languages that I’ve totally forgotten.
I’ve used various game-making engines and IDEs, including the AppGameKit, Construct (1, 2, and 3), GameMaker, and Godot. I’ve tried using Unity, but never gotten much done with it. I’m a 2D sort of guy.
Recently, I’ve mostly developed with Construct 3. The software runs in a web browser, as do the games. The underlying technologies are HTML5 and JavaScript. So I can create games on my Chromebook as well as on a standard desktop or laptop. (Construct 3 will run on a tablet or a smart phone, but I’m not that desperate.)
The games on this website will be HTML5 programs, free-to-play (see the License), and for the time being, created with Construct 2 or 3. The games will run in your web browser. (Or should, but I only test the games on fully updated versions of Chrome and Firefox. They may or may not run on other browsers. Of course, they will not run if you have JavaScript disabled.) The main thing is, you do not have to risk downloading and installing a program on your computer, tablet or smart phone.
Anyway, that’s what this site is about.
